Reflections on the sky.

Today I hiked along, every day easier than the last, my pants starting to get ever looser as they've lost their grip on my midsection like a climber whose lost his grip on a slippery rock, gravity pulling at their fading grasp.

Another offer of a ride to work today. If only people knew what they were missing. After owning a convertible and enjoying the side-effects of connecting with the sky and wind, nothing quite compares to a walk whereby you can gaze at the sky without fear of rear-ending someone or skidding off the road, although, by the looks of it, it's a common occurrence on the road leading to work.

Telltale signs of the aftermath of wreckage, whether small or large, litter the roadside and scar the sidewalk with black stripes peeled from the hides of a Michelin as the distracted driver jerks the wheel in one direction and physics overrules the decision, sending the bulk of the vehicle into either the curb or another vehicle. The ultimate effect; a symphony of squealing tires, burning rubber and multi-coloured shards of broken glass, taking to the air like a stained glass fireworks display as shiny hubcaps skitter like frightened wildlife away from the scene and into the surrounding underbrush.

People speed down this road at quite a clip. Some may say it's dangerous, especially for cyclists but if everyone holds the belief that the universe is indeed infinite, then we are all at the center of the universe and are exactly where we need to be at any given time. However, one accident can negate all the time savings you've made by speeding. If you speed because you think you look cool, you're right; just realize that being cool might be the last thing you do.
