Ok, I have finally found something to complain about.
Most bus drivers have a fairly gentle way of coaxing the appropriate amount of power out of the bus with long stints of steady acceleration; ascending or descending through the gears at a casual pace and braking with equal aplomb . There is one driver, however, that taps her foot to an unheard electronic beat. I feel like I'm getting shock therapy at a rave as the bus's fits and starts rattle my frame against the thinly-upholstered stainless steel seats. I wonder if she's possibly got one foot on the accelerator, and one on the brake. It's no wonder that when the bus idled at a stoplight that one of the windows vibrated with the staccato of a modern-day Gatling cannon firing at 10,000 rattles per minute.
An impromptu and extended stop at one of the bus stops for a cell-phone call made me glad that I'd brought the requisite reading material. I'm reading a book called A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks, (loaned to me by a friend.) This book is making me laugh out loud, burned a smile into my face, and has so far shortened the ride to work and made it just that much more enjoyable. (Although he does tend to overuse some phrases in this particular piece.) The Prologue, however warns you that you will also cry so I had better bring a tissue or two on my next trip. I haven't read any of his other stuff yet, but most likely will. I highly recommend it and hope that you take time check it out at your local library.
