I'm alive but between prepping for hurricanes and feeling poorly and as such I've been hit and miss on my bus route. I even missed the wedding of the year as a result of my illness so I'm quite sad about it. It would have been great to see the family. I've had a couple of uneventful days on the bus, but not enough to really catalog.
Everyone is ok regarding Hurricane Ike. We had a branch fall off at my condo and hit the wall, but it was a smaller branch and didn't smash in the window. The HOA has assured me that a bid has been put in and that some arborist will be trimming said trees. I don't think they'll take another blast like that. It was gusting into the 40s up here.
Anyway, life is great otherwise and I hope to be back on a more regular route soon. They're letting evacuees ride the bus free so I bet it's packed for the next few months as people mend their lives after such a tragic loss. One of my pilot buddies sent me these pix of the newly formed Texas coastline: http://texascoastgeology.com/Hurr%20Ike/Ikeflight/index.html It really gives you pause when considering a home on the beach. What happens when the patch of land that someone's house is on is no longer there? Do you still have to pay taxes on it if it's no longer able to be built on?
